On top of broad professional expertise, she also brings her personal experience to the table, being a wheelchair user who graduated from the University of Oldenburg herself.
All consultations are, of course, absolutely confidential and free of charge. An anonymous consultation is also possible.

Having a disability or a chronic disease often means that organising your studies is a bit tougher. However, there are special provisions in place at all (technical) universities that allow for the arrangements you need. Wiebke Hendeß can help you if you have questions about organising your studies, but also about organising your life as a student and even afterwards when it comes to starting your career.
Typical questions include:
- How can I obtain the curriculum and assessment arrangements that suit my needs (examples: taking a written instead of an oral exam; obtaining extra time to write a paper; make use of assistive technologies)?
- What financial support and funding is available to me? What are the special provisions concerning the federal loan and grants system BAföG?
- What are my career options and what steps do I need to take to pursue them?
- Is the campus accessible?
- How do I find suitable accommodation?
- Does my condition “qualify” as a disability / chronic disease?
Who can make use of the consultation service?
Wiebke Hendeß addresses all (prospective) students who feel that they are disabled or have a chronic disease. Apart from mobility and sensory disabilities, that also includes mental and physical conditions like diabetes, depressive disorder, multiple sclerosis, autism, dyslexia or ADHD.
Family members of affected students and university staff may also seek Wiebke Hendeß’ advice.
This consultation service is directed to (prospective) members of the University of Oldenburg, Hochschule Emden/Leer and Jade Hochschule.
